NEXT BOARD MEETING:
Thursday 11 September 2008 in Broken Hill at 5pm
The Far Western Regional Development Board is one of thirteen regional development boards in NSW. The Board is funded by the NSW Department of State and Regional Development and is charged with:
- Promoting economic development initiatives
- Providing advice to the NSW Government and the Minister for Regional Development on important regional development issues
- Involving local Councils in regional economic development
- Developing local leadership
- Championing major investment projects
- Promoting key initiatives to improve the region's business climate, including infrastructure
- Hosting other NSW Government business related initiatives
The Board's main role is as an advisor to government on key economic issues and impediments to growth in the region. The Board also examines the potential for economic activity, on an industry-wide basis, in the region.
